Complete nomination submissions are accepted annually from 1 March through 1 May.

To be considered for recognition as a Fellow of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, a person nominated for or applying for FACRM must meet all three of the following criteria:

1. Be an active ACRM member for at least five consecutive years and be a member in good standing at the time of nomination.
2. Have an outstanding record of professional service to ACRM. Regardless of how outstanding the nominee’s contributions to rehabilitation medicine may be, the nominee must also demonstrate an outstanding record of service to ACRM.

   This service should be sustained up until the time of nomination or have occurred within the five years prior to nomination.

   Serving as an ad hoc reviewer for the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation , while highly valued, is not sufficient service to satisfy this requirement.

3. Have a sustained record of at least five years of outstanding contributions of national significance to medical rehabilitation in at least two of the following areas: clinical practice, research, education, or administration.

For nominees or applicants meeting the qualification requirements:

• Three people other than the nominator must endorse the nomination and may add comments in support of the nomination. Endorsements are submitted through the online form.
• A full curriculum vitae must be provided.
• A bio paragraph of no more than 300 words, suitable for publication in the awards banquet program and for introduction of the Fellow, must be provided.
• The curriculum vitae and biography must be submitted to Terri Compos, Senior Director Missions, at terri.compos@acrmrehab.org by 1 May of the year in which the nominee is to be considered.

Nominations that are not submitted through the designated form or that do not include three endorsements, a full curriculum vitae, and a biography will not be considered.

A person nominated for or applying for FACRM must meet all three of the following criteria:

1. The nominee must be an active ACRM member for at least five continuous years and be a member in good standing at the time of nomination.
2. The nominee must have a substantial and sustained record of professional service to ACRM. Examples include Board service, service on the Editorial Board of the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, committee leadership, task force leadership, and special projects.

   This service should be sustained up until the time of nomination or have occurred within the five years prior to nomination. Serving as an ad hoc reviewer for the Archives, while highly valued, is not sufficient service to satisfy this requirement.

3. The nominee must have a record of substantial and sustained impact on the field of rehabilitation through research, clinical practice, education, and/or organizational leadership.

   Nominations should explicitly identify the primary area in which the person is nominated. Nominees are expected to demonstrate impact at a regional and often national or international level.

1. Regular publication in high-quality, rehabilitation-relevant journals, including publications as first or senior author. Middle-author publications or co-investigator status alone are not sufficient.
2. Ongoing funding for research, including service as Principal Investigator or Site Principal Investigator.
3. Invited lectureships at professional meetings, healthcare organizations, and academic institutions, as well as peer-reviewed scientific presentations.
4. Service as a peer reviewer for scientific journals or funding agencies.
5. Awards for scientific quality and impact.
6. Evidence of the impact of specific research findings, such as changes in clinical practice or clinical guidelines.

1. Leadership in developing new assessment or treatment innovations that advance care.
2. Leadership in synthesizing evidence that leads to clinical guidelines and practice recommendations.
3. Funding obtained for innovative clinical program development.
4. Key leadership roles related to enhancing clinical practice in professional organizations. Holding clinical leadership positions or titles alone is insufficient evidence of impact.
5. Peer-reviewed publications related to an area of clinical expertise.
6. Peer-reviewed and invited presentations on the nominee’s area of clinical expertise.
7. Service on journal and funding-agency peer-review panels in the nominee’s area of expertise.
8. Selection to participate in policy and guideline development efforts.
9. Awards for impact in a specific clinical area.

1. Mentoring doctoral or postdoctoral trainees who go on to achieve success, with documentation of subsequent positions and/or productivity.
2. Developing innovative educational processes or curricula that are disseminated beyond the local institution.
3. Funding obtained to support educational projects.
4. Key leadership roles related to enhancing education within professional organizations.
5. Peer-reviewed publications and peer-reviewed or invited presentations on educational processes at professional meetings.
6. Awards for educational achievements.

1. Creating new organizations, programs, or processes for addressing rehabilitation needs. Launching a proprietary rehabilitation-related business or holding an administrative title alone is insufficient evidence of impact.
2. Creating innovative processes to enhance professional performance or clinical outcomes within the rehabilitation field.
3. Awards for administrative accomplishments.
4. Peer-reviewed publications and peer-reviewed or invited presentations regarding innovative administrative topics.
