
Mark Ylvisaker Memorial Pediatric Brain Injury Symposium
The Mark Ylvisaker Memorial Pediatric Brain Injury Symposium was established in 2015 by the BI-ISIG Pediatric–Adolescent Brain Injury Task Force, with support from the ACRM Pediatric Rehabilitation Networking Group, to honor the life and work of Mark Ylvisaker, PhD.
Dr. Ylvisaker was internationally recognized for his groundbreaking, person-centered approaches to pediatric brain injury rehabilitation. Over a 35-year career, he supported innovative programs across all 50 U.S. states and more than 15 countries, authored over 100 publications, and received numerous honors for his contributions to the field.
Dr. Ylvisaker passed away in 2009. Through this annual symposium, the BI-ISIG seeks to continue his influence and legacy in pediatric brain injury rehabilitation.
